The fundamentals of fluid statics and fluid dynamics are covered in this course. Students will be able to: understand the basic equations governing the statics and dynamics of fluids, analyse and determine the forces applied by a static fluid, and analyse fluids in motion at the end of this course. Essential concepts such as viscosity, density, continuity, pressure, force, buoyancy, and acceleration will be covered and more advanced methods such as continuity, conservation of momentum, streamlines, Bernoulli equation, Euler, and Navier-Stokes equation.
• Introduction • Fluid properties • Fluid statics • Fluid in motion and pressure variation • Control volume approach • Momentum principle • Energy principle
